Saw a picture of a cake on the front page that looked like splattered aluminum, so I decided to upload an old pic I took looking down into the aluminum furnace we used back in Advanced metalshop in high school. A freshly added Ingot is slowly melting into already melted aluminum. The furnace uses forced gas mixed with oxygen to burn hotter, heating the aluminum to as hot as 2000 Degrees F.
