"In case of small, isolated fire on top step, please saunter indifferently down the stairs."
You know, these signs simply fail to convey a significant degree of "menace"...

There is actually a sign at work on the ground floor, about 6 feet from the exit (because that's where the elevator is), which says: "In case of fire, do not use elevator, use exit."
Then there was the antiquated apartment building I used to live in downtown, with the typical "In case of fire, do not use elevator, use stairs." Had there not been a surveillance camera right ther (this was a building where Cops had filmed, after all), I'd have added the words "They're faster."

I took a pic on a subway train in NYC years ago. It was one of those type signs, where a 'man' was supposed to be littering...and it was crossed out. Dude just had his arm out, and there were 3 small squares in the air-space below his arm.
"No telekinesis" or somesuch. Wish I could find that pic and upload it, cause the description really weakened the effect.
