WARNING: THIS STORY CONTAINS INFLATION, WEIGHT GAIN, AND FORCE FEEDING. BURPING, TOO.
Alright, here it is. This chapter, and all chapters that come after it, went through some different evolutions before I settled on this, and I'm pretty happy with it. One of the things I try to do is keep the elements of harmony in mind, so after I planned the story out the first time, I had to ask myself if the most loyal pony in all of equestria would act the way I had planned, and the answer was no, so I changed it to its current ending, which affects each chapter that comes after this.
I have a hard time writing Rainbow Dash, and I still feel like I didn't nail her character down 100%. I may have to revise this later. She's right on that line between jerk and good friend, and it's a hard line to tightrope walk without going too far to one side or the other.
I have pages of headcanon written that I swore I wouldn't use in the story, but some snuck in anyhow. Hopefully it won't be too jarring. Poor Applejack. If the show writers would stop and think for a second before writing another Applejack episode about farming or family, they can see what a wonderful, deep character that they have. Or could have. Mostly, WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN AN APPLEJACK LOSES HER HAT EPISODE!? IT'S LIKE THE MOST OBVIOUS THING BUT THEY WON'T DO IT BECAUSE THEY NEED MORE FARM AND FAMILY EPISODES. Hah. Sorry.
I do not ship. Anything you read that you interpret as shipping is purely coincidental. Although, the funny thing is, from the beginning of the show, I was always under the impression that Applejack and Rainbow Dash were really close and that they'd been friends long before Twilight came to ponyville. But when I was doing my research for this story, I came to the realization that not only is there no indication that they knew each other for much longer before Twilight came, but all available evidence seems to indicate that they hate each other. The vast majority of the time we see them together, they're competing or they're arguing. If it's a "mane 6 journeys forth and does something together" episode, you can bet that at some point, Rainbow Dash and Applejack will have a disagreement about something. So, in-canon, they seem to be something more like rivals than best friends. I guess you can say I've been partaking in "friendshipping" my entire pony career. Whatever, I'm fine with that. Already got my headcanon.

Because, being the element of loyalty, she is the most loyal pony in all of Equestria. Apart from her history with Applejack, she saw how strangely everypony was acting even before she laid eyes on her, so when she asks Rainbow Dash for help, she knows the scope of the situation Applejack is in and knows that she really needs help. Plus, in an earlier draft, Applejack lied to her and told her she was training for a race to explain why she seemed out of breath, so it would take a little while before Rainbow Dash started to question it, but that whole thing didn't make the cut.
But anyways, it's not like she's immune to Applejack's problem, and without spoiling anything, it plays an important part in the next chapter.

I've been trying to get back into the groove of things. I did a couple little one-offs for the now-defunct 4chan thread, (which I'll post here eventually), but I took a break to focus on writing non-fetishy things for a bit, and then stopped to focus on schoolwork, and now I've gone too long without writing and I'm just trying to get back into the habit.
