introducing The Dead Dog. I'm really quite excited to finally be posting some artwork of this character. I've been pouring a lot of ideas into this guy's comeuppance. It won't be too soon though. I know what I want from this character, i'm just not totally sure how to go about introducing it

Those eyes are something right out of a dream. I find that comparing the two poses gives a very poignant feeling: the left representing a state of looking upon it with fear, and the right serving as a shaded reminder of a deep friendship with the animal.
That's the way I see it. I like it muchly, I do.

Thank you, I am glad you find the eyes interesting. I tried to give two different views on the faces. One looking aggressive and one with just a straight expression. I'm really happy with the way the line work turned out, but jeez I really lost it when trying to color it. I don't do so well with large areas of fur. Thanks for checking this out though! I really appreciate the comment.
I can never not stammer my wor- Wow! I'm so happy to see you got a new character on board (well updated I guess)! And my gosh does it looks really badass. I'm really happy you are able to draw so many different types of animals so beautifully and expressively animated. Well, I've seen your gallery multiple times, you can and have drawn many animals! I'm really glad you got around to drawing Dead Dog again, defiantly a looks more like the picture you example then the older versions of it I've seen (you say it resembled a sergal). I liked that design too, but this one has it's own unique look to it.
The eyes on Dead Dog (Double D..?) do really make me wonder and wish to know what and why it has those there. I'm wondering if those eyes can 'blink'. Maybe they do a fade in and out sorta thing, or maybe they'd sort of shut off when sleeping. I'm not too sure, but I am getting this feeling a whole 'the fly 2' dog personality for this character. As in, it appears dangerous and threatening on the outside, but when you push that aside and come near, it's actually a kind old thing. I think I gave my whole in depth look into Dead Dog in the older version, so I won't bore ya with the same thing over again.
That collar, golgotha. I think I know what it means, but to be safe.. okay so I am now getting a sort of idea of how this character may be played out. Or at least, I'm getting a vague idea. I hope to see what it really means when you make the full fledged comic. I am kinda wondering how this character will play out with the others. I mean, Dead Dog looks a lot more animal then the other two- maybe that's the twist. I'm so full of questions aagh! However, I know you got great ideas and I will be totally amazed at what you come up with. (I'm still excited for part 2 of the mini-comic too! I haven't actually seen part 1 of the comic with my eyes for a bit, but I was so amazed and fascinated by it, I can remember it all clearly by mind. I liked it that much, and will always.)
I'm sorry about your dog, you have my condolences. However I'm glad to see you made your thoughts into a doodle, and that doodle into art, and that art into a character. Keep the memories alive and well, because friendship and kindness towards a pet and his owner can never be forgotten. Thoughts, memories, dreams and happiness.
(The death of a beloved animal always comes as a shock, and that's all too real for me too. I will forever miss Mike and think about him, but outwardly I remember the good times we had. He's an angel now, and just knowing he is a better places make me happy.)
Amazing artwork, Pashmenia! Your stuff is so great.

Thanks Mike! And yeah this was the original DD (I think that's a god nickname). That sergalish one just kept bothering me so I took it down after posting this one. Drawing the fur on this guy felt like a big flop. I thought that I could pull off the same realism I did with that first dog picture when I got my Sketchbook Pro upgrade, but large bodies of fur like this just caused me to crash. I feel like it all turned out too dark and on top of that I forgot to add in it's teeth in the right side of it's mouth...
I really like DD's eyes. I wanted to give it some distinction aside from just being a dog. There's still something else I wanted to add, but this character is still in it's alpha stage; feels weird calling it that. But anyway, it's personality and behavior will definitely be a big surprise once I can finally get DD incorporated into some pictures.
I really really really want to hurry and make that 2nd page because it's been like 20 some days! Even then I'll still have to make the 3rd one. The only thing holding me back is just trying to figure out how to outline some movements. Once I get the outlining done then it will just be the simple process of coloring. I really hated how long it's been since part 2, but I dunno, this art block wave has been hitting people hard.
Losing a loved animal is very hard and I know you're no stranger to it. Even though I got this character's shape from that doodle, DD in fact doesn't look like my real dog at all. Her name was Chippy and and she was a little white thing. I had her for 14 years until one day I had let her out to pee. My mom was pulling up the driveway and accidentally ran over her when she was running back to the door. The worst part was when I ran out the door to pick her up she was still alive, but paralyzed. I had to hold her crushed body in my arms until she stopped flinching.. horrible memories. This all happened a long time ago. I still feel sad, but knowing shes in a better place gives me comfort too.
