Little doodles of the cast in their K.O'd state. I might redo them in my normal style sometime.

Glad you like them!
Hm, I might make them more like Earthbound's and give them their torso and a tail instead of making them like Pac-Man ghosts.
Trying to figure out a way to actually implement them though. Since I picture it being played similar to a beat'em up, it'd be cute to roam around as a ghostling if you aren't revived in time and you're out continues. You'll have to wait for your party to finish the level much like any other game, but I had a few ideas:
The areas would be Metroidvania-esque, not sure if I would have safe rooms where you'd be revived and continue should you be in the room with a live player. This would mean you'd have to follow a member to a safe room as they trek back for one. Would you have to pay gold to revive as well?
When the party reaches a boss room, should any ghostlings be revived instantly?
These were just some things to think about, though I think I'll keep it simple and opt not to be able to revive ghostlings. If anything, I'd think about reviving once a boss room is reached, but maybe that's too easy...?
Eh, sorry for brainstorming!

That could work nicely, it'd be like an homage, hehe.
Hm... Well if it's a beat'em up having it as a side thought could be neat, maybe they could have a small effect in battle every 30 seconds or something like a "Boo!" fear or something just to sorta keep them playing in a way... Less that became over powered some how, never know with people they find out the strangest things!
I think a safe room like thing would be good, after all no one wants to sit out for too long, or maybe a share life system.
A revive before a boss is a mixed back, I personally like when games do that, specially when the boss is not expected, but I can understand others finding that makes it too easy and that bit of unexpectedness being part of the fun, like with freaking Gary Oak.
No need to be sorry, it's neat to hear about some ideas and brainstorm!
