Yeah, I read the journal that was posted about it but I guess I still just dont really understand why. I mean it's one thing to "reclaim" a word or something I guess...I dunno. I just wouldnt want to run around with the word yiff on my clothing that's all so I wish there was a version with just "Frolic" on it and the pawprint. Again, just my thoughts on it & it's not up to me as to what the logo is/isnt, just figured I'd say something about it in case there might be an interest from others in having t-shirts without the Yiff part on it.
I really would love one of these shirts, because I love going to Frolic, however as it stands I really can't. I would gladly fork over my hard earned money for one of these if it was like your flyers for the party. I am a fursuit maker who doesn't make yiffsuits because that kind of reputation isn't a desirable one in the general fursuit making community and can negatively impact my business. A lot of customers won't buy from makers who make yiff suits because if that maker has a recognizable style, they don't want people speculating about their sexual habits or thinking they're creepy for wearing something that might have been used for sex in public. If I was to wear a shirt emblazoned with "yiff" for photos with my personal fursuit it doesn't really paint a good picture for being a clean suit maker.
Even if I didn't have my own personal business to be concerned with, I wouldn't be all that comfortable wearing something like that in public because it feels a bit like advertising a fetish or interests I really don't have--not that there's anything wrong with anything like that, lord knows. Even if I know that it isn't advertising that, the average dude on the street doesn't know that and that's not a conversation I want to have. With a lot of the media coverage the fandom has been receiving, more people know what yiff means than what most people realize. I've had people I know find out that I participate in the fandom and they immediately assume (not hatefully mind) that I fuck in my fursuit. I just don't want to draw more attention to that end of the fandom with the clothes I wear when it's not the part of the fandom I most participate in. I draw yiff art for people for trades, request and commissions and stuff like that, but it's something I have no interest in having associated with me within the real world. While I'm certain that for a lot of folks the sexy bits of stuff ARE a huge part of the fandom for them, to me, far most important is the fun I've had, the creativity that I've gotten to express and witness, and the friends I've made and that's what comes to my mind first and foremost when I think about the fandom, yiffy shit being a comparatively minor aspect. Frolic in particular has really promoted those things a lot more in my mind, particularly since Frolic ISN'T a yiff/sex event.
I read the journal that you guys posted and I totally get where you're coming from, I'm just giving you guys another perspective from within your potential customer base. In no way am I saying that you guys shouldn't carry the yiff shirt, I think that's an awesome idea for people that DO participate in that aspect of it and/or are comfortable repping it. What I'm saying is I will toss mad money at you if you carry an option for peeps who aren't really into the yiffy part of the fandom even if that option was exclusively online.

We are working on another design for a shirt that won't just be our logo, or say yiff, but will have some character art that represents what we are, dancing and partying furs! We wanted to do the yiff one for our anniversary, as we've done something with that for every anniversary so far, first some laser cut plastic emblems, then some woven patches, and last year stickers. We are working with a very talented and well known furry artist and hope to have another shirt design done some time later this spring or early summer!
