My pony plushie's diaper
Okay, so I was tired of seeing all these padded pony plushies (all two of them ) on the internet and not having one of my own.
So I decided to make one. I knew I could do a good job, and that my little Twilight would look all the better for it. At least in my opinion.
I went to Walmart and looked for diapers that would work. They needed to be blank for the most part so I wouldn't be limited by the pattern, but it seems like every brand of diaper out there has printing all over it. All except one. I found a box of Pampers Size 5 Extra-Protection diapers, and they all had practically blank chassis. I was reluctant to spend that much on them, but considering this is art I figured it would be worth it, provided I did a good job with them.
I ended up using two of them for my Twilight's diaper. I won't bore you with the details of how I made it unless you want me to, but suffice it to say I got a lot of practice sewing.
I think she looks rather cute, don't you?

Sure. I can be more specific with how I did it, but here's a quick guide:
First, be sure to do this in a place where you can collect all the SAP pellets that will fall out. I didn't take this into account and I'm still cleaning off those annoying little things from my bed and wood floor . . .
I took two of the Pampers Size 5 Extra-Protection (Overnight) diapers and cut down one of them significantly: http://i.imgur.com/26Sx5Iz.jpg I also added a split in the back for the tail hole. I didn't want to make a simple tail hole because I didn't think I would be able to get the tail through the hole, considering how big it is, and I figured that a real diaper made for a pony would have such a feature. After the shape was cut out, I overstuffed it with twice the material it started with and then stitched up the sides with a needle and white thread. I used a blanket stitch for neatness: http://www.ushist.com/images/st_blank.gif
After the sides were all stitched up I took one of the tapes and cut it kind of in half, asymmetrically, and stitched them to the diaper (http://i.imgur.com/yr47MCK.jpg) using a back stitch: http://www.allaboutyou.com/cm/allab.....medium_new.jpg Starting with the back tapes means you can fit the diaper to the plushie much easier than trying to fit it with the back end free to pull apart because you can simply put up the tapes to keep it together. Also, be sure to cut all the tapes in a way that leaves the sticky adhesive on it. It will stick to the diaper and keep it in place while you sew.
When that was done I gently peeled off one of the tape panels on the diapers and cut out a piece to serve as a place to attach the tapes and then sewed it to the diaper again using the back stitch: http://i.imgur.com/Xi66GHG.jpg
Then I took another piece of tape panel and then cut it to fit the front of the diaper, then sewed it to the front using a back stitch: http://i.imgur.com/e6CeY8r.jpg
After I did that I cut down two of the tapes to about the same width as the larger of the two back tapes. I also cut down the "wings" to make them look more natural when Twilight's wearing the diaper, then I sewed the tapes to the wings: http://i.imgur.com/zNPwQLd.jpg
I did a test-fitting each time to make sure it was working: http://i.imgur.com/2n4x9Ab.jpg
After I completed the tapes, I sewed on the tail and leg cuffs. I cut a piece of the leg cuffs from the diapers to fit the tail hole, then I sewed it to the hole: http://i.imgur.com/cYKBT4c.jpg Then I cut a piece of the cuff to fit the sides of the diaper and sewed it in place: http://i.imgur.com/GIGafl3.jpg
After that, it was done. If you want more clarification on any step, don't hesitate to ask.
