Since segregation of gender is a major thing in the middle east in history, women were sometimes, depending on the male gathering or event, were frowned upon to dance in front of men…so what do we do? we get men to dress and impersonate lady dancers. Ayrik with his lithe body seemed to have fit back in his days in the middle east, you have to gain coin somehow to supply and keep up with the Hospitallers and because he holds an overall interest in dance.

they did, within the Ottoman empire women actually were not even allowed to dance in public. It was usually men. Only in strict private meetings were women allowed to dance in such a fashion and even then their attire was still concealing their faces and much of their bodies. This is speaking from roughly the 14th to 16th century :3 so very interesting. Along with men usually shaving the majority of their body as well. yeahhh :)
