This is my pet rat Rogue, got her fro ma friend last month that sadly ended up being allergic to her, they were gonna just take her back to the pet shop they'd gotten her from but I said I'd take her in instead, she's a sweet cutie, loves cheerios and warmed up to me pretty fast, haven't had her climb around on me yet though kinda scared to in this house for fear of losing her in it somewhere. I wanna try and get a bigger home for her, especially since I plan to get her a companion at some point and lots of things to keep her occupied( found online they love dirt boxes with grass to play in) anyways was glad I decided to take her in. way low maintenance compared to bigger animals like a dog

>w< unless she's a jumper, it's safe to carry her around on your shoulders while you're going about the house! I've found a great place to let them roam around, is in the couch while you're chillaxin'. They love diving into the cushions to look for treats.
Also protip: They can have very close to everything but oranges, diet wise! NOOOO oranges! It likens their chance for cancer!
Best of luck! <3

true, gonna try and keep her diet healthy, I also know they can't eat green tomatoes, and it isn't her being a jumper, it's this house isn't safe enough to allow her to run around if she does, I'm gonna be moving into a new place soon so once there I'll have a space she can be out in and explore, I probably won't have a companion for her till then since money has been eaten up with saving for the move
It's good you're getting her a companion, rats are social animals and can get very sad and lonely if by themselves. Oh and they also need something hard to chew on to keep her teeth down so they don't grow too long and kill her. My ratties love granola, hard wheat noodles, cheerios, and brocoli *but mostly just the stem of the brocoli*
