Wasteland Weapon Concepts 2
Another round of weapon concepts for my Wasteland. A few wanted to see some more types of guns and some melee weapons.
1. Bog standard revolver. Simple and easy to maintain, as well as produce. Very common side arm for those will not much cash.
2. Mark 2 Infantry Laser Gun. A redesign that appeared during the war: the battery and core components have been relocated into the stock, with a rail mount in front of the trigger for either a pistol grip or accessories. Although it has a smaller battery than the mk1, the gun is more efficient and weighs less.
3. Splatter gun. A sawed-off shotgun on a diet. A weapon truly for the desperate, the splatter gun is a double barreled shot gun with it's barrels sawed off down to the shells. Has an accuracy of zilch and only useful at point blank range.
4. Bolt action rifle built from plumbing parts. For the cheapskate sniper, it does it job as a gun, just not very well. It's common for this basic rifle not to have a rifled barrel, but sometimes gun makers will bother to give it an upgraded barrel which improves it's accuracy greatly.
5. A common machete design - a length of sharpened scrap with a wrap of bandages at one end for the handle.
6. Amazon arrow heads. The Amazons don't use guns, however their bows are deadly and their aim more so. The tribal Amazons favor broad and barbed headed arrows to make their targets bleed - they consider a bleeding target a more interesting choice for hunting.
7. Amazons don't have smelting technology or knowledge, so they scavenge and build weapons from scrap. Their spears heads are usually mounted knives or jagged scraps pieces. The more sharp pointy bits, the better the weapon is.
8. A bladed gauntlet wielded by veteran Amazons. Escaping with your life from an Amazon hunt is rare, but escaping from an Amazon in melee range is practically unheard off. One slash from their gauntlet is enough to kill or cause a seriously injury, and the Amazons never hold back.
9. Young Amazons tend not to have as well made weapons as their elders, but their weapons are still as deadly. This is a simple slashing weapon made from sharpened CDs, leather binding and tree branches.

"A gun barrel is the tube, usually metal, through which a controlled explosion or rapid expansion of gases are released in order to propel a projectile out of the end at a high velocity. - Wikipedia"
Without a barrel, the Gases ain't gonna give the payload enough muzzle speed to kill or even scratch anyone... Try adding a 5 to 10cm Barrel, then we're making bodies ;)

Heh, I stand owned, however I'm not convinced it'll be useless. I've seen the Mythbusters episode where they set off rounds without a gun, however the shells weren't held in place like in number 3. I've also looked around to see if anyone has tried sawing off the shotgun barrel right down to the shells, but all I found where the standard sawed off barrel guns and a clip of a shotgun shell held in place but without anything covering the length of the shell being fired in slow motion. The shell practically exploded, although it doesn't show what happened to the shot after it exited the frame (it shot off forwards though). If the shell was held in place with a barrel covering the shell to stop it expanding sideways it could still be quite deadly standing in front of it.
thenk you for including a revolver type weapon; my mate and I have had multiple discussions about hostile environmental weaponry:) #2 and #4 look very good, my only question on #3 is how does it not break your writ when you fire it, it would be like the ballistic fist in Fallout: New Vegas
