Head Canon for a Magical Girl Alternate Universe: Eflasia powers Nyxis's magical attacks, and Samson regenerates every time he dies so he's usually the bait and chucked at whatever bad guy is attacking and dies once in at least every episode. 8D
PS If you haven't seen the Puella Magi Madoka Magica anime series, I highly recommend it. It's 12 episodes of really grand storytelling. Girls have the opportunity to become magical girls and protect the world in exchange for one wish. I wonder what Nyxis would wish for?

The setup is like a contract. Becoming a magical girl in the anime is a dangerous job: It's a lot of work, girls have died fighting evil, etc. Being given any wish you want is what you could call fair payment for a duty that might take your life.
Of course, the show is all about the consequences of those wishes too since there are almost no limits and you could REALLY bend reality if you aren't careful. :P
