Switcharound meme with YOAI and HINDRUDENVER.
I've been INSANELY slow, always doing my part last asjgasjfhjakf
And then I made this crudely put together... meme thing. I don't like premade templates, forgive me.
Nonetheless, it nicely portrays each drawing in its evolutionary stage!
As HindruDenver suggested, we should do some sort of group critic. :D
I think we should also bring up what our struggles were. In a way that it doesn't criticize what we had to work with, but how good WE were in coping with whatever was different and new.
I think for me it would be this:
Linearting: Understanding another artist's thought process when making the lines. Several times I was afraid I would misunderstand and pretty much create something that wasn't intended to be there that way. I actually remade lines in one area after looking at the ref more intently.
Coloring: Sticking to the lines. I usually have very, very thin lines, that often get fucked up entirely and mostly disappear in the end. So this time I tried REALLY hard to not fuck with the lines too much, although I really did want to give them some sort of color. I didn't erase or draw over any, though.

Oh ye
Linearting: Same with the misinterpreting! ;V; I totally forgot you had such a fluffy tail so I sat there like, "....I'm gonna mess this up OH GOSH." I also feel like I strayed from your style. :'D
Coloring: Coloring the right parts the right color xD And getting the markings right! Just sitting there comparing the ref like "Ok...this color..........goes here......"
Definitely after seeing both of the your finished products I realize my I should have probably spent a lot more time on my coloring portion. ;u;;;

I don't really see much misinterpretation, The lineart is actually enjoyable to look at. Id say you defiantly have a more successful go than I did making it work.
Now coloring is something that needs a little work. From this peice, the blue you used to make shadows is a little too rich compare to the other colors. Mixing more of the base color with the blue should help.

I thought you did just fine on the lineart! And it was interesting to kinda see a 'merge' of our styles nonetheless. Doesn't fully need to stick to one person's style in a collab in my opinion. It just looks so much more interesting this way.
Your coloring seems dramatic in some sort of way, fitting to the characters expression. I personally do like that you used blue to shade, since I do that a lot as well. :p But I suppose in the case of this picture, you should've used a warm color in contrast to lighten things up again a little in general. Just some shiny yellow/orange overlay or 50% Luminosity in the top left area. The little pink/red shine on the left is a really nice touch, especially since it relates to the backgrounds color. I suppose all in all it's just a bit 'too cold' and lacks a bit of warmth. 0:

Id say i have a hard time with the same things as you two.
LineArting: Although I was conscious about line weight and stuff, I was very unconfident in my line marking. You can see its wobbly in some places.
Coloring: Color is becoming a new territory for me. Although i understand color theory I still have a hard time understanding how to treat color in mixing and choosing colors that agree with lighting and shadowing. Although Fiuefey has different shades of grey it ended up coming out a little too brown because how much light i put through it.

Now for you.
For the kind of stuff you would usually do where you actually color over most of the lines, this would work well but alone it could use some more line weight to give it more pop.
Now the coloring, Its definatly something you are proficient in and a skill I need to improve on. Colors are clear and vibrant and values are well established. The only thing i would change would be to brighten up the face a little more around the cheeks. The face is the focal paint and allot of it is in the dark. Other than that, very good.
Id say that your mixture was very successful with Yaoi lineart and me coloring.

Definitely agree on the lines. I'm not good at lineart to begin with and don't usually do it, so I'd definitely need some practice. Although I've been picking it up again a little.
asgjasgf I actually get really confused when glasses are involved. That throws me off a little, I make a bunch of shades and the highlight on glasses, and everything gets kinda lost. It feels unnatural to just lighten everything up, but too much shade makes it seem weird. Something I've got to work on as well.
I also agree that the mixup you mentioned ended up really well. It feels like it all just fit, it looks natural, as if planned and done by one artist.
Now, some critique for you :P
As you mentioned yourself, your lines were sorta spotty here and there, I could especially see that in the glasses of the character. I don't know what tool you use, but you should probably use a 100% opacity one with black. (I mean, colors can always be added afterwards) Although I did like that they were a little thicker here and there, it made it look dynamic, especially in the hair area. Although the part of the left shoulder was reaaaally thick, you should probably try to avoid that. o:
To your coloring, I can just say that when I first saw it, I thought it was fantastic and looked REALLY good on the drawing and with the lines. You mentioned that you had troubles sticking to the grey, although I believe you should never stick to full grey-scale. The fact that you used yellow/orange highlights reasons that coloring for me, personally. The only weird-ish part is just that the part of the tail behind him has such a different color in general. But nonetheless, it looks very atmospheric and I love it, actually.
The only thing I'd say would be "experiment more with more colors", but in this picture the given colors just work the way they are.
