You should be proud!! haha i remember my first one, it looked like a horse XD
Most of the shape actually comes from furring, sometimes you can have the worst head base ever but if it's furred well then it looks great. The foam base is never done until the last piece of fur is sewn in :D

Be sure to look around a lot before committing to a certain website/store. Distinctive Fabrics is where I got all of mine and it's pretty good/high quality stuff for the price. https://fursuitsupplies.com/ also sells many suit supplies for a decent price, so it's good to take a look there too! :D
