I've been doodling in my sketchbook a fair bit lately, feeling pretty comfortable drawing in my traditional medium. The picture here started as a sketch that took roughly an hour to do. Once I moved it over to my computer to color it though, I started to get a bit carried away, and ended up doing some flat shading, adding a background, and playing with the colors a fair bit. Took up about half a day doing that, but I'm pleased with the results.
I don't really have a backstory for it, since I didn't originally plan for there to be a mudpit there. Maybe he's going to stand on his soapbox and preach to some pigs in the mud? Maybe he'll use it as a diving board instead? Hell if I know...
I'm actually happy with how this turned out. The colors look good, the flat shading seems nicer than my usual shading, and the pose looks alright; even added a bit of gloss to the mud. I know I can still work on it some more, but for now, It's progress.
