If (hypothetically!) Nathan Drake, Harrison Ford, Steve Irwin and Errol Flynn had a kid and left it stranded in the outback to fend for itself, it would later conquer the world out of sheer badassery have to be Ethan. Born Aussie, adventurer, resident dashing hero. No wonder his daughter turned out to be awesome.
Also, I finally found origins and meanings of some of the team names. Some are fridge brilliance (See the title), some are also totally creepy.

And as far as backstory is concerned, I can't say if it's interesting, but there's definitely tons of it. Which means heaps and heaps of backstories.
