Well, it's up to the individual to determine how they want to install them. We wouldn't recommend ripping the silicone off of the fleece backing as silicone doesn't stick to anything except itself.
We know of 3 methods where you can cut each pad out individually and...
1) ...glue them onto the fur part of the handpaws with E6000 or hot glue (make sure the parts you want to glue onto are shaved down).
2) ....leave a tiny amount of fleece around each of the pads. You trace the "shape" onto the fur backing, cut them out, and pop the pads in from behind (if that makes sense?).
3) ...sew the silicone directly onto the fur.
