Ceyla at FE 2014 - New Dress! #3
I am back from Furnal Equinox! And I arrived home to about five different disasters I have to sort out, but I'm working on it. Anyhow, these photo sets will serve as my per-convention recap and thank you to the awesome costume builders who have provided me with a life-changing way to be a lot closer to the real me! (In fact, you might just want to go shout at
beastcub and tell her how awesome she is. Just saying)
Friday was a big day for Ceyla, I arrived at about 4pm and immediately registered, took one quick buzz around the dealer's den to scream hi to my favourite people and then quickly went upstairs to change into suit. I had a lot of things I wanted to attend and I didn't want to miss a second. I took my secound round of the floors in my BRAND NEW DRESS and without any false modesty, I was the star everywhere I went. Everywhere I turned were people wanting to comment on how much they loved my costume or give me a hug from recognizing me from last year. Many people commented specifically on my new dress and how much they loved it, and to be honest, I really can never get enough of that kind of love > >. I attended the Ladyfurs meet and played pictionary and participated in a scavenger hunt and managed to win myself a makeup kit as a door prize and a free badge from the scavenger hunt! I also got to meet a lot of really nice other ladies who once again were very accepting of me being there. The ladyfurs meet is really the highlight of any convention for me because it's the strongest thing for fighting that nagging little doubt in the back of my mind that genetic women might look down on me as some kind of pretender. But all I feel from the ladyfurs is acceptance and love, and that... makes my life fulfilled in a way like nothing else. After Ladyfurs was a new event at Furnal Equinox, the Femme Photoshoot specifically for female suiters. I participated and got lots of great pictures of myself and before I knew it, the day was over! It was 12:30 before I finally got out of costume, ate a meal and called it a night. All in all I really pushed myself that day, 8 hours in costume and almost ALL of it on my feet. It was a little unfortunate because it drained my stamina for the next day, but I don't regret it one bit.
Saturday was a big day with a lot of things I planned to do. Unfortunately, many of those things required me to be out of costume. First was at the hotel buffet, followed by a quick round out of costume to say hi once more. I intended to put on my suit for the group photoshoot but I did not quite make it in time. Instead, I toured around the convention center and once again received a lot of very self-esteem boosting comments including the words "Favourite", "Beautiful" and probably my favourite "All the other girls are jealous at how gorgeous you look". While I missed the photoshoot, They did let me in for the fursuit parade! I had been practicing my sexy walk, but the parade was moving at a pace a little slower than I had been practicing, and as such my footing was not quite as elegant as I would have liked it to be, but everybody was still very excited to film or photograph me and I consider the parade to be a success. After the parade, the fatigue from the day before caught up with me and while I still had another hour's time to stay in costume, I ended up going upstairs to dress down after only 3 or so hours in suit. It was unfortunate, but a learning experience. I will not push myself so hard on a Friday again in the future. After that I went to the Mandarin with some friends and then played Werewolf (dressed in my gorgeous
magpiebones werewolf mask, on which I also received MANY compliments and questions now that I could actuallly talk) until 2:30 in the morning
Sunday was mostly a blur. I only woke up just in time to pack up and check out of my room. This meant Sunday had no costume time at all. The day began with lunch which thanks to a series of unfortunate events that WERE NOT MY FAULT saw me getting a free hotel meal thanks to a credit card problem. After that all there really was time for me to do was run around with my 3DS and offer any other people I saw with a 3DS free pokemon. I think I ended up giving out about five perfect IV pokemon, so if you heard somebody got one, let me know!
All in all, it was a fun time, and even though I came home to many disasters afterwards, I'm trying not to let it tarnish the memory of FE 2014
Thank you Beastcub, Thank you Magpiebones, and thank you Janet Cox for your wonderful costume work. I can't wait for my next event!
