Man oh man oh MAN am I jazzed to finally call this one done!
Stripetail approached me about a rather dramatic pair of scene commissions recently, and the premise was too deliciously tempting to pass up. This is the first of the soon to be duo, with his character (an Asiatic banded linsang-- SUPER cool little animals) overlooking a parched valley and its inhabitants-- having made camp in the wasted remains of an enormous dirigible-- as a sandstorm prepares to swallow up everything in sight.
Did you know said sandstorm is actually called a haboob? I love that word now. You have no idea how close I was to throwing it in the title.
Thanks to everyone who kept me company in the stream, and to Stripetail for being so wonderful to work with! Look for another stream tomorrow when I start up piece number two, and enjoy!

HABOOB HABOOB HABOOB! dirigible guts!
The tents were little more than scraps of canvas tossed over guy lines and affixed to the nimble aluminum bones that jutted out of the ground. They looked like warts under the great beast looming above them. Once a gossamer leviathan, the Graf Zeppelin dirigible exceeded 800 feet long and 135 in girth. The flagship of the skies represented the ambitions and toil of mankind. Now it lay lifeless and rooted in the ground. Skin was ripped from it's charred organs. Twisted ribs stretched towards the heavens like some carcass of a stranded whale perishing within sight of it's domain, just out of reach. In the distance approached crimson billows like a haunting specter sweeping a Martian plain. It was a HABOOB.
Attending livestreams to see the commission piece develop in real-time, to discuss ideas, concepts, and details while it's forming is such an incredibly amazing and interactive process. I will have a hard time going back to traditional WIP back-and-forths! I highly recommend the process, if the time zone issues work out.
It was an absolutely exultant experience and I enjoyed every moment of it! I am still poking around the full size Hanners, it's so jam-packed full of details and thins! HABOOB!
