Possessed of a certain feverish tittilation of forbidden intellect, I made my way home to my flat on the south end of Arkham, adjusting my tie as my throat became parched and my breathing labored. Each street, its age-old Colonial edifices yawning hungrily through their darkened windows, towered over me oppressively, as the walls of a narrow canyon closing imperceptibly on either side of me.

The words of the learned, grizzled scholar as he succumbed to the inevitable madness of total revelation wore heavily on my thoughts as, in each ineffable flicker of the gaslights, I was certain I could see the gruesome appendages of these eldritch beings that lurk in the corners of unspeakable blasphemous half-thought.

The thought- too horrible to bear and to oppressive to escape- followed me even into my dreams that night.
