I kinda wanted to draw a police dog anthro type thing (which has to be a german shepard, by law), and was kinda inspired by the environment that Blade Runner is set in. Overall, I think I got the tone that I wanted :3
I've been working on the background for this for literally forever. But the rain and car actually turned out really cool once I powered through it all. It ended up being absolutely huge... probably atleast 50 layers and over 500 mb at one point. The original itself is 4000x3000! It actually took almost a minute to save. My computer was dry heaving
Thanks to everybody who helped me with it n.n

Very nice, and though we don't see a cityscape, the rain, the sense of night, and the light give off a definite Blade Runner feel. Love the little robot, too. Also, and I don't know if this is intentional or not, the Chinese restaurant in the background DEFINITELY gives off a massive Blade Runner vibe, due to the presence of a very pervasive Asian aesthetic in the movie(i.e. The giant building side video billboard in the film.) I also love the way the rain looks, the rain in Blade Runner is very pervasive throughout the movie, and the rain effects, especially the way it moves off the umbrella, is very impressive and just lends itself to a great piece of art that is rich in atmosphere. Damn good job.
(First of all... thanks so much for such a detailed and awesome comment. That kind of critique and introspect doesn't come up often. You're the best!)
I had a really blade-runner kind of idea in my head for the longest time with this one (despite not really liking blade runner as much as the hype gives it). I love to draw dramatic scenes though, and Blade Runner does a fantastic job with atmosphere and emotional scenes. Hard lighting, dark colors mixed with colorful signage, and the rainy downtown streets... all of that was spot on in depicting the futuristic and troubled world the story is set in.
But to be even more honest, when I made the sign for the Chinese place, I had just eaten some Ramen and stir fry... didn't really have anything to do with blade runner at all!
The rain was surprisingly fun to do once I had the right methodology... and it ended up super rewarding. Without it the scene was much less active than it should have been.
I still need to learn how to do better hard lighting... for example with reflections on the wet pavement, umbrella, and her hand.. but I guess there's always something to work for!
Thanks for viewing.. and thanks for the comment!

You're quite welcome I am one of the biggest Blade Runner fans you might ever meet, and when I see something that has strong and similar vibes to it, I get all fanboyish and giddy. It was a huge piece of what the Cyberpunk genre as a whole would become, the towering cityscape, the neon lights, and the questions about what makes us human that the film (as well as the book it was loosely based on) are themes and motifs that will stay with Cyberpunk, and Sci fi, for the rest of time. Also, despite the fact that the movie was made in 1982 (and takes place in 2019) , and there have been countless serious science fiction movies, anime, manga, and books ever since that have made a serious prediction at depicting the way the future would be, this one seems the most accurate and real, and it's a truly haunting notion. It remains my all time favorite film.
Now that i have finished explaining what a fanboy I am, I have Favorited this piece.
