And here is the second companion piece for
stripetail's first scene! I seriously just had a BLAST on this one, with all the grit and energetic motion and limited colors. His wonderful linsang character, being of noble merit, has gone into the heart of the sandstorm for a rescue that may have come too late.
Enjoy, everyone! Thank you to Stripetail for being an absolute pleasure to work with, and also to my streaming pals for giving me such good company while I plucked along!

This is such a fantastic piece :x I don't even know where to begin. I finally roughed out a story to fit it as well, yay! (it's probably full of typos and will need to be reworked due to lack of sleep)
The best part for a detail nerd like myself is all the small things, like the flow of the fur on the tail remaining consistent to the direction of wind despite the curve at the tail tip. The button arrangement of the vest. The barely visible ground underneath the layer of drifting sand that hovers above the ground and draws the viewer's eyes towards the center. It's like a sandstorm version of the Greek Charybdis with maw agape, trying to eat everything. The fading of sharpness with a veil of dust as one moves further out of the plane of focus. The voluminous clouds in the background can just be made out if one looks into the distant yellow. The flailing of the scraps of flags, his hair, and his scarf in wild motion, like a long exposure photograph while other areas are juxtaposed with sharp particulate and grit. Even the cloud of dust licking at his feet as he lifts it adds to the overall feel of cacophony.
The image cries with motion. Syng strains with blood and iron willpower. The sky claustrophobic and there's a redshift in the limited palette. The colors came out fantastic and I sat through multiple livestream sessions and nine WIP to see this develop. Han didn't just apply a sepia filter at the very end to tone everything. She could envision these colors in her mind and built them up like this from the very start. It's super awesomesauce!
