You can consider the baltic Crusade actually starting in 1147. The Duchy of Saxony, Denmark and Poland prepared and started their invasion of the Obotrite Slavs Terretory in todays north-east germany, which started the so called Wendish Crusade (Wends is the old german Term for the Slavs that settled in Germania Slavica, the Area between the Elbe and Oder rivers)
This War ended finally ended when the Obotrite Knez (Prince or King) Niklot surrendered to Duke Henry the Lion of Saxony and became the Vassal of Henry in 1158. Niklot himself died in 1160 during a siege battle and his successing Son Pribislaw continued the Battles until 1166, when he finally surrendered to Henry the Lion.
Pribislaw turned to Christianity and was baptized in 1167, he received the former Terretory of the Obotrites as a Principality by the Saxon Duke Henry and became his Vassal. From that point was the Area known as Mecklenburg mostly peacefully christianized.
