If we see Anubis in a maids outfit that is pretty likely to get a +fave from me,
This setting/situation makes me think that at one time this place may have been very quiet, regimented, uptight...old school if you will. As all of these gods became less relevant to mankind and less acknowledged by an increasingly secular society they strayed from their original purposes/behaviors. As the eons passed they had to find other things to do or become incredibly bored, They may have looked more closely at the evolving state of civilization, how it's inhabitants acted and may have inadvertently become more worldly themselves. Poor Hathor may have memories of the "good old days" and often laments that the newer feeling around the "office" with it's politics, modern behavior, sex and even rudeness leaves her out of a lot of things. . . social obscurity bought on by old time thinking.
Good to see that you have been doing these again and the cameo by Nisroch was a nice addition.

Actually your musing is correct. That is about what I had in mind for the setting of this comic series. I originally intended to do a strip which implied this but I later scrapped it because it was a dull one. The only thing that I regard differently is Hathor's position; I rather imagine her disappointed by the fact that she's not given much heed because of her wisdom (as it is the case in this episode), rather than being disappointed in the general debauchery (which I rather think she digs, her being amongst other things a goddes of love). I picture Horus as the one that resents this change of behaviour, mostly.
Anyway thanks for reading and appreciating!

It wasn't such a strange concept for the ancient egyptian the death of a god, actually. Various gods died, which is normal if you even just consider the fact that they considered the pharaoh a god and he did die. Other dead gods were Osiris, Montu and a cartload more. They went to the underworld as well.
So.... first you living like a mid-level employee, serving the god's needs.
Then you become a god and you direct the masses and some global events.
And if you're good with that - you get a "raise" to the untimate creature with right to torture the sinners and unfaithful? Wow.
...it seems like a traditional company ladder, really. McDonalds allover the heaven.
