Holy what the what.

Man, I wish I was there. And your work continues to astound. The dark backing and lack of heavy contrast gives a really neat effect, almost as if this were an illustration for a Grim fairytale.

Yeah, collodion has a unique signature. Essentially grainless, it has an ethereal, gem like quality. I'm really liking the process.

I definitely feel that. Curious, what does the caveat of "Poor man's" constitute? Or is that just because of the aluminum foil?

Collodion formula for photography are identified by some whimsical names, Poor Boy, Old Workhorse, Old Reliable to name a few. Poor Boy doesn't use cadmium salts or ether. It's marginally cheaper than some of the others and relatively easy to mix. On the plus side it is pretty tough and seems to stick to glass well.

That's most likely one of the most remarkable "Wolfen" heads I've ever seen. I kind of like how the grainy effect of the photo makes the image look like it was snapped on the run.

Love the print, I wouldn't redo it myself I think the coating distortion really adds to it given the subject. Collodion process is something I have yet to try, still getting used to 4x5 format ;p

Thanks.
4x5 leads to 5x7, because most of the lenses will cover both. Then, one day, 5x7 begins to look small. You start looking at 8x10 gear or shudder ULF.

They don't ;p but based on the focal length I think is was from a barco project or 8x10 enlarger. Picked it up for ULF design I'm working on (think mobile darkroom that also functions as a ULF camera and or 8x10 enlarger if I ever move up to that format),

Pretty similar yup...I was thinking of body mounting the camera (sidewall on a rack for focusing) but I like their idea better ;P Just need to figure out how to squish a full darkroom (plus enlarger) and a ULF in to a single trailer...photography is definitely crack ;p
