Dave Coulier replaced him as Peter's voice, and I could never get used to that. He made Peter sound like he'd been dropped on his head a few times.

Yeah..! Dave Coulier always annoyed me.. he was always waaay too full of himself.. and half his impressions were horrid! .. They replaced him when Lorenzo became sick and couldn't continue to do Peter's voice.

No, you have it all wrong.

Dave was hired because Bill Murray complained too much that Peter sounded like Garfield and not enough like him. Dave Coulier was well known for his Bill Murray impression so.....there ya go.

Noooo, Lorenzo died in like 2001. WELL after Ghostbusters finished its run.

aah.. Strangely.. all I remember Lorenzo for was as the producer/composer for The Bob Newhart Show .. and as the voice of Garfield in the Garfield movies and series adaptations Garfield & Friends.. and of course The Real Ghostbusters.... All of which I have on DVD.. (The Bob Newhart Show was VERY hard to find on DVD lol)

You forgot, Lorenzo Music was in the show "Rhoda" too, as "Carlton the Doorman."

In fact a cartoon was made of the character.
With Lorenzo's voice, of course.

Then he became Garfield.
