I think your colours are coming across well, you maybe just need... I would suggest comissioning an eye-catching lineart. There are two ways to sell adoptables for a species: with or without a base. With a base, people know exactly what they're getting and then cute poses are up to them. I use this method for my species. People get very critical when your lineart/anatomy isn't perfect. I can tell you put a considerable amount of thought into these... But someone looking for a character, will only look at two things, the lineart, and the colour, not how hard you worked on it.

Get a lineart for the species, and colour that. As long as you don't go over board it should sell. Artists the know you'll be using their lineart to sell adoptables will charge more, but if you find one who really wants to help, you can probably get one for cheaper. I would get a simple, cartoony anthro and feral for this species, because I think the feral would showcase the species well.

I would never go as low as 10 points. If you end up getting a lineart made, make $5 your minimum, it probably won't sell on DA, but they will sell over here. I see alot of people with great ideas, and without proper execution, I see them just flop.

Thank you for the advice. This was really a test to see what interest there would be, but I do need to work on the base for the species itself. I wasn't happy with my base food this and I think it shows more than I thought....

Always listen to those gutt feelings. But I mean... I posted a species for sale, it totally flopped, so I re-made the lines and have sold 4 of them so far, easilly paying for my time. If you assume you need to show someone how to use them, then they sell better. I always make ferals though. Just a personal choice. I did an anthro only once and it flopped. Then I lowered the price because it was old artwork.

If you need more practice, offer cheap sketches, do them fast, make them sloppy, so you get the general feel for the shape... It's helped me.

I'd be willing to bet that a feral or chibi version would sell.

I've actually been working on a chibi version ^-^ I'm tweaking how I do my lineart a little, trying to make it a little less...2-D, if that makes sense.

I feel ya. You mean where the lines fade out and go small?

That and I'm working on controlling where my line thickness varies.
