Photograph taken of the impending Hurricane Alberto. The sun hit the clouds and moisture just right to cause an aurora-like ... thingy.

LOL! Shows how much I pay attention to the news! XD
I remember driving back from Montreal last year and it was raining really hard off in the distance, yet there was a double rainbow there too! I wish I had my camera to take a picture of it, cuz it was such an odd sight to see really really dark clouds and rain in the background, yet sunny where we were on the interstate, and the rainbows against the dark clouds :)

Oh man, I love double rainbows. I see a ton of them in the summer here on the lake but I can never seem to get a good picture of them! Rainbows are so sneaky and mischievous... always hiding in the bushes and doing God knows what!
Oh... we're talking about RAINBOWS!!! Yeah, those are hard really pretty!

I like the thunderstorms, the wind and the eye, but I never cared much for the possibility of them being strong enough to kill your house and you if you are unlucky enough. A nice cat 1 is always nice to be in, especially dry (ironically I hate rain).
And the pre-hurricane breezes can't be beat.
The thunderstorms up here are so pathetic! I swear. You get a little clap of thunder here and there and some strikes and it goes over to rain. What happened to two hour thunderstorms, with thunder loud enough to wake you out of a dead sleep? Geez. I love lightning. Always have.

Cat 1 is just too weak for me. I've seen regular severe everyday Florida thunderstorms that are more powerful than Cat 1... then again, I'm more inland and Cat 1 are always weak tropical storms by the time they get to central Florida UNLESS they are quick moving. I prefer Cat 3 hurricanes. My house is made out of solid concrete block, so it's not going anywhere. Oh yeah, pre-hurricane breezes are amazing. Have you ever noticed that all the birds stop chirping before a hurricane... even many, many hours before the hurricane hits? Well, they're preparing and hiding, but it's still neat that nature KNOWS there is a big storm coming before any sign of it shows up.
Oh man, I'd hate to live where you live. I just love my thunderstorms. I think that's why I love Florida in the summer. It's otherwise storming or a hurricane with rare sunshine in between... at least here in Polk County. We as a county get more lightning strikes than any other place in the world, so it's CONSTANTLY storming in the summer for hours and hours and hours and it doesn't stop. XD Usually by night time, it has died down a bit... but not always. It rarely rains in the mornings... but once 3 pm rolls around... BOOM... keeps raining all day and sometimes all night. :)
I hope you can come to Florida in the summer and enjoy a really good storm!

The heat scared me away :P
But no, stronger hurricanes on the coast (I lived 18 plus years in West Palm Beach) are much much worse. Inland not so much. In Gainesville I had much less excitement during any of the storms that hit there, but in WPB a good Cat 1 is still weak enough you can go outside and watch the rain go by sideways. Irene hit on my birthday and I stood outside in the Eye, something I will always remember, although as far as t-storms go, a very very weak one.
But there are things here in Pennsylvania I like too, change of seasons, this thing called snow, wildlife around every corner even though I live in the city, and sometimes I find myself waking up and still feeling like I never left Florida even though the weather and terrain is so much different. It is a very interesting feeling when that happens. And OMG the trees up here are so much taller than Florida's trees, but so are the houses, so it is like the comparative sizes never changed. But I miss my storms. I was even thinking if I decide to go visit my best friend Mike who is living down there, I have to schedule it during a hurricane or a squall of thunderstorms.

I like Cat 3 just because they are still really intense inland. We had Frances which I think was a Cat 3 by the time her slow ass hit us and we had winds of 140 mphs. It was AWESOME! XD I've always wanted to go to WPB...I should head there sometime. :)
Yeah... I would like to see snow again, but I know after 5 minutes, I'd be tired of it. XD Although... the leaves changing are cool. :) You should definitely schedule a visit during a hurricane. :D Come see me if you do! :D
