So long story short, I got my old horse back from the people we gave him to and they hadn't been caring for him properly. I had him for about 4 months, in that time I had to completely redo a lot of his ground training as well as his training undersaddle.
Left photo: First day home, 400lb's under weight, hadn't had a halter on him in 3 years (hadn't hardly been touched in three years), slightly matted mane and tail, issues in his leg joints, generally just dirty.
Right photo: Still a bit underweight but very improved (mostly just getting weight back on his hips, some of it was gaining muscle there as well), ground manners SIGNIFICANTLY improved, finally respects a rider (for the most part), all cleaned up, only slight residual joint problems (also attributed to stringhalt), overall much happier and healthier, just about ready to go to a new home!
(Also please excuse the tack in the photo on the right, I couldn't get ahold of a lolipop pad which he needs with his withers being so high)
