While I was in Arizona a few months ago, I met a friend of the family who rescues injured bats and nurses them back to health.

This is a lovely photo, glad someone takes care of some of the wildlife that arn't really mentioned or thought about. I found one when i was just a child. But my mother went crazy when I tried to bring it home in the rain, I felt bad for it, but she told me to go put it back .. :(
Thank you for the kind comment, Adi-san!
Some of the bats he takes care of get well enough to be released back into the wild, but others have problems that can't be cured. The one in this picture has a broken wing that will never fully heal. She wouldn't be able to survive in the wild, so she gets to just live in the house with the other bats, out of harm's way. She seems to be quite happy with her caretaker and her batty friends, though. :)
