Been a week or so since my last post.
I've started to play around with backgrounds a bit. This piece was done during the week but it REALLY needed a scanner. I had to wait to get it back home so I could scan it properly. The reason for all of this is because I wanted to do a "light" piece that didn't have me shading until the wee hours...
But you're not going to read that technical stuff. So here's the more Emotional reason: I wanted to play around with the down to earth fears of a civilized macro. No I'm not depressed or obsessed with the negative aspects of the human condition. I'm just curious about how a different being would handle a mundane situation.
A giant of any sort would obviously be a bit adverse to stepping on someone, that's sort of a given. I wanted to do something that would make you think a bit and wonder what other fiendishly normal things a giant would be incapable of doing.
To this end, here's Mosh freaking out over having a very small baby in his hands. I figured a nice guy like Mosh wouldn't want to hurt a baby but given his size he might crush, squash and otherwise "pop" a baby just by trying to pick it up. Barring that, he might just drop it and it'd expire from the fall. Babies are so fragile : )
Of course you could be a bit more imaginative and envision this piece to be a man's fear of commitment and responsibility. That's certainly valid given the world we live in and the way we're conditioned to be free willing and adventurous.

"That man won't quit as long as he can still draw a breath. None of my teammates will. Me? I've got a different problem. I feel like I live in a world made of cardboard. Always taking constant care not to break something. To break someone. Never allowing myself to lose control, even for a moment, or someone could die. "

Ah, and as for the symbolics of child-raising...
The way most people parent isn't much different from a micro waving a machete inside the baby's head.
Okay, I'm exaggerating, but most parents really haven't gotten this "parenting" thing understood.
Besides, to a child, adults are like superhero giants or something. I've even heard a theory that the slenderman is a metaphor for a childs view of an adult.

"Thinky art" is pretty much what I'm going for. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I've heard a very similar theory that claims that all giants in fiction are merely representations of childhood anger towards our parents for causing us "difficulty." Where difficulty is not getting another cookie or something of worth to our younger selves.
I'm not going to say anything about parenting and world building. Parenting is has no right answers, simply resultant individuals. I love world building and would take about it for ages. but most universes would implode on themselves if scrutinized hard enough and that's just fine for the most part.

Well, I would say that if we seek to create peaceful, happy individuals, there are some answers that are preferable to others.
But that is a controversial tangent that has not much to do with the artwork :P.
Although your interest in world-building is interesting to me...maybe we could move to PMs and engage in something terribly intellectual XD.
