All of the colours work together here in a path. Anselme's brown jacket goes with the dark blue background which flows in a gradient from dark to light blue which goes with the light-blue butterfly which goes with Anselme's light-blue glasses-lens which goes with his dark-blue glasses-rim which goes with his purple head which goes with his light-pink nose which goes with his apricot muzzle which goes with his white shirt. Even his black eyebrows go with the dark-blue background! Also, the fuzzy texture of his eyebrows goes with the fuzzy texture of his head.

Another interesting thing is that Anselme's gentle-looking design has him in a gentle-looking situation. The fact that he is not really doing anything, the only 'action' being the butterfly resting on Anselme's nose, only minimistically adds to the gentle tone of this picture.
