Ok, so I'm swamped getting a lot of stuff done and organized, but I try to do something for special occasions if possible. So, booted up the holodeck and tried to think of what I should do for St. Patricks Day.
Given my workload, I was stumped. But then a thought occurred to me...I've been re-reading a series that jokes on the subject of a group of people set around the holiday, well Irish culture in general, but whatever.
Anyway, I've been re-reading...the Artemis Fowl series!
Yes, I've read it before (aside from the last one, which I'll look into grabbing later), and I just love the series. It's fun and it's witty and I love the concept in it. Yeah yeah yeah, fairies with guns and dwarfs with flatulence powers make some people think it's for kids.
Ya know what? Bamph that! It's fun! And jeez, not like there aren't highly thoughtful points, and a main character even kicks the bucket half-way through the series. Even Disney takes a seat-back to onscreen bucket-kicking.
Anyway, a big part of the series is that mystical creatures like Fairies and such live deep in the Earth with tech humans can barely make protecting themselves. Add in one child genius who wants to do what no human's done before, steal fairy gold, and you've got the mixing of fun and mayhem.
A starting joke is that a "leprechaun" isn't a small Irish guy. It's actually mispronounced and should be "LEP Recon", as in a group of fairies under the recon task force of the "Lower Elements Police", the Lower Elements, if I remember, being the name of everything under the Earth belonging to them (like Haven and Atlantis)
Anyway, armed with the slight motivation for the holiday, I ran up a simple simulation to get myself some gold. Fake it may be, but it's the experience I'm after.
Got this little elf with changed-ears who acts like a leprechaun in the woods of Ireland, scamming people out of fake-replicated gold (some of it's real) in exchange for their worldly possessions. Not too inspired, but I was in a hurry.
For an added bonus, I added in one of AF's main characters, Holly Short, to act as backup. Of course, she's as easy with me as she was with Artemis early on...still, I think I could have taken that Leprechaun by myself...though a Neutrino in the grass is always good.
On a side note, I've toyed with the idea of peering through the Earth to see what's going on down there...but rather not get my mind-wiped. *blinks* Or maybe I already have 0_0
In the end, it was an easy win...though I got zapped in the tail by Holly while she took the gold back 0_- Guess I shouldn't have loaded the earlier version of her when she had a less-than-savory career story that makes Internal Affairs groan. My bad.
