A small update on my rosy boa, Rowan. Here in California it is way hotter than it should be this time of year (even for us), and I personally am a fan of the cold, so I'm not that into it. BUT, both of my snakes are desert snakes and thus love the extra heat^^ So I thought I'd take some nice pictures of Rowan, especially since it's been quite a while since I posted a photo of him.
He's a male whitewater rosy boa that is about 2 - 2 1/2 years old (pretty much fully mature). Haven't measured him in a while but I'd guess he's somewhere between 26 and 30 inches long - somewhat small even for a male (male snakes are smaller than the females), but he makes up for it in chubbiness lol. He eats great and is very tame, although on occasion he will bite out of a food response. He was my first snake (got him for my 17th birthday) and he's my little baby <3

He's teeny tiny, not even 3 feet long. Even if he tried he couldn't do a human any harm. But even with larger snakes, as long as you handle them frequently and keep them fed there are rarely any issues. Serious injury from pet snakes is extremely rare, and when it does occur it is usually from Burmese Pythons or Reticulated Pythons (or venomous snakes, which people shouldn't be keeping in the first place) - not boas.
