Mysterium Tremendum et Fascinans
Did this a very long while back as a piece to relax on and take a break from figures and get back to my roots. Its the newest print I inaugurated at Furthemore and will continue to do so at FWA this weekend.
One of my favorite quotes is from Teddy Roosevelt who said "There are no words that can tell the hidden spirit of the wilderness, that can reveal its mystery, its melancholy and its charm."
The title of this piece, similarly, refers to a concept of mysticism, regarding "a mystery before which man both trembles and is fascinated, is both repelled and attracted. Thus, God can appear both as wrathful or awe inspiring." (from "Modern origin and development of the history and phenomenology of religion")
I think thats why I love backgrounds so much, and try my best to portray these elements in my work.

II am so glad you took that break, and created this magnificent piece. I will be contacting you regarding purchasing a print. Every so often, a work knocks me off my paws. this is one such work. I'm glad you put as much information as you did in the description, too. I also did a piece many years ago for my Lion, Bobby Heartsong (Song, of Song and Dance). He wanted an image of what we call "Homestead", named after a virtual place collectively created in the newsgroup #alf (Alt Lifestyle Furry). So I created it, and it turned out well. Now, of course I will have to upload it here in my gallery! Anyway, when I saw this piece in a photo taken by another Lion, Zalluth http://www.furaffinity.net/user/zalluth/ here on FA, It immediately struck me as "Homestead", Recognition of a place in our collective imagination. A place I certainly yearn for, and for certain reasons, my heart is aching. Thank you for bringing this work into the world where it can be shared. I don't know you yet, but I'd certainly like to get to know you better. I really can't thank you enough for this gift.
