"Well, Koda. The pleasure's all mine!" The little white dragon smirks with a light chuckle and wide smile
"You too...." The little stag replies hesitantly.
Throughout that day, Koda could not stop thinking about the little white dragon. Many thoughts swam through his head, though one recurring theme ocurred most: He can't possibly be from around here. Koda continued thinking and thinking, so much so that it even disturbed his class work, which Koda was fairly well at to begin with.
After Koda's seventh period class, his teacher pulled him aside to talk.
"Koda, is it?"
Koda nods shyly, letting out a slight "Y-yes, sir."
"Son, I noticed you were a bit out of it today. You didn't seem as invested as the other students. Is everything alright?"
Again, Koda nodded "Y-yes, sir. Just thinking, I-I guess." He looks down, twiddling his thumbs.
"Well, son, I suggest you keep your mind on what is going on in the classroom." He pats Koda's back gently before sending him off to the busses to go home.
Being one of the first groups sent out to the bus, Koda made his way to the seat furthest back, where he normally sat on his old bus. He sighed comfortably, thankful that the day was over and that nothing bad happened, like at his old school. Though unfortunately, this thought caused him to flash back to that fateful day that caused his mother and him to move away from their old home.
"Look at him!" The other children would cry "He won't play on the playset, what a loser!"
"L-leave me alone!" The little stag would cry out
"Look at him! He's even crying!" One little boy in particular would pick on him the most, until that fateful day.
Koda had arrived to recess a little late after speaking with one of the counselors on staff about his little problem. That day, Koda was fed up. He had had enough of the torment.
"Awwww, little Koda gonna cry today?" The one child shoved him up against the dumpster, sending Koda into tears.
"Awww look! Little Koda's crying! Such a little wuss!"
Koda glared through his tears at the surrounding crowd. His 'friends' just stood there, laughing along with the boy. {They're not my friends! Why won't anybody help?!} He thought to himself. He sniffled, looking down "I've had it with your tears!" The boy cried before dealing a sucker punch to Koda's jaw, causing Koda to collapse.
"L-LEAVE! ME! ALONE!" Koda shouted out loud before jumping up, charging the boy with his antlers, driving them directly into the child's stomach, running full speed before the child finally tripped, allowing Koda's antlers to impale the student. Fortunately enough, Koda's antlers didn't rupture any of the boy's organs, just sending the boy to the hospital with near-lethal blood loss. Koda just stood there, staring at the boy and the damage he had caused, frozen in place as the ear-splitting wails of pain from the boy bore their way into his ears. In terror, Koda collapsed to his knees and began crying once more.
Koda's flashback was interrupted by Kris flopping down in Koda's seat, shaking him violently
"Koda! Hey Koda wake up! Dude, you're crying are you okay?!" The dragon asked with a heavy concern in his voice.
Koda's teary eyes darted around wildly, jaw hanging half open from the shock of being woken up so suddenly. He nods and wipes his tears after a moment "Y-yeah.......Just fell asleep a-and hit my head." He smiles weakly.
The dragon smirks and hugs Koda tightly "Sure, lets go with that." He chuckles and lets him loose.
Koda rears back suddenly, unexpecting of the hug "W-wha?!" He blushes slightly
"What? It was just a hug, dude." He shrugs with a puzzled look on his face
"I-I........I've never been hugged before.........e-except from my mom...."
He chuckles "Aw man you're missing out! Hugs are awesome!" He smiles "Its how my mom taught me to show appreciation for someone. She said if you really liked a friend, give them a hug to make their day better!" He scoots in the seat, setting his bookbag on the floor.
Koda smiles weakly "Th-thanks......" {Should I tell him? Or will he just run away?} He leans against the window and sighs deeply, as if a heavy burden had been placed on his shoulders.
The dragon frowns at the sight "Wow, you look pretty rough......You sure you're okay, little dude?"
Koda nods "Yeah, I'm fine." he smiles again, merely faking a stronger smile "No need to worry."
Kris nods with a smile "Hey, anyways you wanna check out my pokemon cards?"
Koda smiles "S-sure......I like Pokemon." He perks up slightly, ears shifted forward in interest
As the bus continues to speed off campus, the entire ride home was filled with pokemon, jokes and shared interests in many ways. Koda could not have been happier, having met such a great person, yet a heavy darkness settled in Koda's mind, having been reminded recently of his near murder. Koda's smile faded slightly for the last portion of the bus ride, though it returned almost immediately when Kris smiled and stood up.
"Hey, isn't this your stop?" Koda looks around and nods "Yeah, it is actually!" He jumps up with his bookbag, afraid of missing his stop
"Heh, well isn't this just a co-eenky-dink?" Kris smirks "This just so happens to be mine, too!"
Koda tilts his head "Really? Why weren't you on the bus this morning?"
Kris rubs the back of his neck "Eheh, mom wanted to drive me to school on the first day." He blushes "She's got a thing for showing off her looks.......She says she likes dominating the fellow 'mom' crowd with her looks."
Koda smiles as his tail wags gently "Oh." he chuckles "Well, let's get going."
The two of them both got off the bus together, Koda looking around for the direction to walk to his house, starting off when he saw it. Kris smiled and followed Koda quickly
"Hey, you should come with me to meet my mom." Koda said, tail still wagging
Kris checks his watch and shrugs "Sure! My mom won't be home for a while."
Koda smiled "Then lets race! Onetwothree go!" He shouts before taking off in a full sprint. Kris is left walking, grinning
"I'll give ya five seconds, Koda!"
Koda chuckles "I'm gonna win!"
Kris smirks and opens up his wings, taking off in one big gust, and in a few flaps later, has caught up to Koda "Wings, dude!"
Koda pouts "Hey no fair! Wings don't count!" He chuckles and turns down the walkway to his house, causing Kris to nearly plummet from the sky, having a shaky landing
"Hey no fair you didn't say it was close!" The dragon shouts
Koda winks before flinging open the door and running in, yelling from inside "You used your wings so I had my own little cheat!" He stops and doubles over, panting from the run. Kris struts in with his hands in his pockets, flopping his bookbag down by the door. Koda walks back out from the kitchen, towing his mother along by her wrist "Mom this is my new friend Kris!"
Kris smiles and waves, Koda's mother smiling back "Pleasure to meet you, Kris."
"The pleasure's mine, Ms. Orthwright!" He shakes her hand and smiles "Very nice place ya got here!"
She giggles and nods "Well, I am a stay-at-home mom, so I have plenty of time to clean."
Koda smiles "Kris come see my room!" He tugs on Kris's wrist, towing him quickly to his room.
