My personal design, rendered by the very talented Ben from Fallen Oak Forge, I dub thee "Visceral."
17 inches of Cutting Frenzy, (almost)8 Inches of Grip and a Hawk-Beak crowing; Visceral is a design that's a little deceiving. You'll notice the "rear" catch along the spine, this blade is actually meant to be wielded with the Spine facing the opponent and the sharp end facing the user.
By using the Spine as the shield/parrying side, the wielder deflects and redirects (hence the rear catch). The blade is then drawn in and placed with the base of the blade (top of the grip) against a limb or part of the body and drawn straight back. The inward curve of the blade allows for a continuous biting cut while the hawk-beak delivers a final, mortal incision.
Obviously the blade can still be used with the hawk-beak facing the opponent too, but for purposes of this martial style, this is how I envision it.
Ben will begin forging this blade for me and I will have it within the next 8-10 weeks :D
The Visceral is a design for my character "Walks with Ashes" and with future concepts, you'll see the more "fantasy" oriented version of this blade. Walks with Ashes' blade is called "Scavenger's Horn."
(This may be edited a little later, as I am not sure if I want to keep the index-finger resting spot there or not, I am still chatting that over with Ben to see if I can maybe just get a little more Grip instead, we'll see)
