They can cry
They can wish
And they can dream.
But they can no longer speak the
words.
It must be so painful...
Calabi (top) and Yau (bottom).
The two long lost Spirits who once created the Endless Forest. The Red and Blue Phoenix of creation. The only ones of their kind...
The love story with the dark and bitter end...
Countless of centuries after the world had been created, the humanoid races of the Forest had finally reached the power and technology to challenge even the gods themselves. In their unwavering quest for absolute power, they chose to ambush and attack the two Great Spirits, Calabi and Yau, seeing them as the final step towards total supremacy.
The pair had no interest in taking part in the war and decided to negotiate with the stubborn creatures who only wish to disturb the peace of life itself. Confident in their immortality they met with their opposers... Only to realize that even immortality can easily flicker out, in the blink of an eye...
After the assassination of Yau, Calabi could no longer find a reason to exist in a world without her lover... Enraged with sorrow, she engulfed the entire Forest and all it's inhabitants in fire in what has later come to be called "The Great Purging" or "The Great Fire". (name depending on your political and religious standing.) Leaving nothing but cinders and ash.
Having sacrificed the very essence of her life and immortality to end everything, she finally died by the side of her lover.
The two Great Spirits where gone, but the Forest lived on... Slowly regaining its former paradisiacal splendor and the circle of life started all over again...
Only now, without the playful laughter of it's loving mothers, no longer dancing across it's endless deep skies.
Some say their essences still linger in the forest... Yearning to finally be reunited in eachothers arms...
Some say they are forever gone... To never share their love for eachother ever again.
But recently, rumors are spreading of having seen the red Phoenix somewhere in the forest... A glimpse of hope, or the dawning of destruction? Who knows... Who knows.

but.. but... you have killed the main character
*snickers* butt!
Really like the contrast on this and a very good background story that you have created. Im getting a "so close but yet so far" feeling of this picture, like there would be an unseen wall that seperates them in the afterlife.
