A mighty big commission for 
Azadeh-Khanoom on Furaffinity as a gift to 
SmithyShark for the Persian New Year! =) Oz the Tiger-Cat and Jordan the Shark are both sitting in an Iranian restaurant, and Jordan's first try at smoking a hookah results in the smoke coming out his gills!
I really enjoyed illustrating this creative idea and seeing how my first full background in a long time would turn out. I think all the things I'm learning from Digital Production Arts studio classes at Clemson University are really showing here. Also, smoke becomes really hard to draw in 2-D after seeing how it's supposed to look properly in 3-D. Oz was also kind enough to let me weave a masterpiece rug by Saber ( http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/F.....Mashad_rug.jpg ) into the image.
Also a big thank-you to Oz for working with me to give this image as authentic of an ancient Iranian feel as possible. (It's not 100% accurate since we're working with an alternate universe instead of modern-day Iran, but I really had no idea where to start.) I know nothing of the culture but Oz has been there several times, and helped me out with describing the landscapes, foods, clothes, and well...everything else, lol! Thank you so much again for letting me try out so many new things in your commission, and I really hope you like it! ^__^

I don't know exactly how hookah works, but I've smoked it a few times with azadeh-khanoom. It's supposed to be healthier than regular smoking because there's less nicotine content. You suck in on the hose, the water in the container-thingy bubbles, and you blow out wisps of smoke that taste like whatever flavoring you put in. It's supposed to be more of a something-to-do while hanging out activity than anything else. :P

Hookah is a type of tobacco pipe that burns molasses and syrup covered tobacco (shisha) and strains that smoke through cold water by pressure difference created when you suck on the hose. Basically it's ulta-cooled tobacco smoke with vaporized flavor syrup mixed in. You get the tobacco in a variety of syrup flavors though you can also smoke mint leaves and other things in them. The smoking is still as dangerous as smoking a cigarette, but the difference is it's nowhere near as addictive and you usually only do it periodically so the harm is very minimal and usually heals up by the time you do it again.
Girl, thank you thank you THANK YOU! I can't tell you how much I love it. It's my background to practically everything and I just squeal whenever I see it. (speaking of squealing, I have to show you his reaction when I showed it to him lol).

No prob gurl! Skill-wise I do believe this is my best piece to date, and it was just so much fun to work with and and capture you and Jordan's essences; I believe I was successful partially because I've known you two for so long!
