This is the carved part of 
caji_kitty's commission. I still need to paint it.
This is my first time trying a chip carving, and it came out just fine. A chip carving is the designs on the right side of this, and it's how I made the letters this time. It's a pretty tricky technique that requires a really different way of looking at the project.
This is also going to be the first time I try putting a wood finish on first and then painting it. I've heard in my woodcarving club that it makes painting way easier, so we'll see.
