I can see this being the beginning of a lovely and fluffy story, and also the beginning of a sinister Stephen King style story. You chose a good place to stop, I think. Also, I think, for now, I shall only consider the possibilities and not try to convince you to set a single one... in stone. :)
...wow. I gotta agree, you did stop the story in the right place in order to inspire a myriad of possibilities in reader's minds. As a matter of fact, I would encourage you NOT to make another one in this storyline. Half the element of mystery is the proverbial curtain: If you don't know what's behind it, ANYTHING could be behind it. And that anything makes it intriguing, makes people want to curl back the curtain...
It's sort of nice to be back. Or rather, it's nice to be back online, but my feelings about being back in the UK are mixed. I've been really bad about writing, too. I've started most of the prompts, but my inspiration just dries after the first paragraph. Perhaps I've been drawing too much... ^_^
I greatly enjoyed this story. The concept is superb, and it was the perfect length. I think there is as much to be said about telling a story in few words as there is in writing a novel. My only complaint is that the fact that they are animals, or animal people seems to have little bearing on the story. As a rule of thumb I like to introduce anthros only if it somehow advances the story. Of course that is merely my personal preference, I don't find it particularly distracting in this instance. Leave it to a cat to see things a different way.
