Love how Skitter's being cradled like that, she loves being held like a baby by her owner (or her husband as well) This right here shows that foxes can enjoy being held in such a heart-meltingly adorable fashion, enough to melt people, yes, even this animal-crazed 28 year old!!

They're already legal in many US states, but the whole domestication thing is somewhat misconstrued. Foxes aren't actually domesticated in the same level as dogs or cats, a lot of people will spread that myth around. People then buy foxes and end up getting something they don't want, thinking it was domesticated. The foxes become tame, friendly and used to being around humans, but never fully domesticated; that takes thousands of years. What Russia did is selective breeding for the past 50 years and ended up with super friendly foxes, USDA breeders here in the US have the same results. Doesn't mean people can't have them, but people have the false assumption that foxes are easier to take care of, this isn't true in the least. Regardless, I've interacted with tame foxes for quite a while and I can tell you that they're truly super affectionate and so cute!
Well, the city I live in has about 110,000 people, more densely populated and many people would complain about the noises foxes make, and their smell as there isn't much farmland in Provo, Utah. But in a town like Santaquin or Genola (small farm towns 30 miles south) the laws are pretty much free game, you can have pretty much any exotic you want, and it's where the sanctuary is. That, and I don't want neighbors complaining about me having a so-called "wild" and "dangerous" animal
It's not recommended to de-scent a fox, as they can get very ill from doing so and is unnecessary (as stated from various fox owners/experts I know personally, not to mention considered cruel). Their scent glands are all over their body. I've been around both genders, doesn't really bother me lol.
And nothing melts a heart faster than having an animal greet you lovingly, much like Skitter; she always throws herself on the ground with ears back, smiling and wagging her tail in excitement. That alone is worth it, working with animals is very satisfying, I highly recommend volunteering if you ever get the chance Definitely feel a connection!
