The started as my response to
zel-kun's request for Free Sketch Friday... But I decided to make it a gift for my mom! She's a very skilled knitter, and her current cats are a brother pair of cute orange kitties! One of which is a tabby just like this! (He's my sweet lovey cat <3)
Knitty Cat is based on this image, which never fails to cheer me up!

I was thinking of that exact image when I saw this drawing! So you referenced it well. I also suppose that image is pretty popular if it was still in my memory and you used it as a reference.
As a side question, how old do you think this kitten is?
And another question... What do you think about putting clothes on real-life animals?

Awesome, thank you! That's so cool, that you remember that picture! :D
I am really horrible at telling the age of an animal by looking at them, but I imagine that the kitten in the picture is only a few weeks old! Though with my drawing, I just wanted to make a cute character that was neutral in many ways, such as gender and age. But not neutral in terms of cute! I tend to make a lot of characters with many specifics in mind, so I thought it might be cool to try it a little differently!
Well, it definitely depends on the animal! My mom used to knit these adorable little sweaters for our rats and other people's... They always looked really cute in them, though some rats just took them off right away, haha! I think going TOO far with the amount of clothing you put on an animal is silly, but something practical that keeps the animal warm or identifies them is just fine. Little dogs look very cute in sweaters, and service dogs can look quite reassuring in their vests, after all! But when you start going crazy with shoes, hats, and all that... I have to question if the animal is really enjoying themselves as much as the people XD
