Ah no clear image for a background thats bad. I also experienced that for some times. SO i'll try to help. From what I see they should be on the top of a tower or maybe on a stair which made of wood. Th background look like it a desert right now, since the few building you place could fit into the arabian house types well. Or maybe the acintent American ones. Desert is simple to draw and shade since there is no other object on them. This could also go on water if you draw a shore there. A good hint on the last that dont forget to focus on the horizon no mater what you draw at the end or you will screw up. I can tell that from my own experience.
