Got a little farther with the design, ha! :D Maned wolf/foo dog. He needs a couple tweaks to colors and marking placement and things. I'd love to put some skulls on the backs of his ears (me being a pirate nerd; plus I'd love to go by Calico or Jack and that reference would be way too fun), but I gotta figure out if there's a way I can do it that doesn't look too much like PandaSocks' design hmmm.

LOVELY! i love love love every character in existence that has funky teeth that aren't just lil dinks or sabertooth sabers
some curiosity qs just because i'm nosey and you don't have to answer if you don't want to-- what colors would you use to turn her into a fullsuit, if you took that route, and what's the rationale behind the dragony tail? iirc foo dogs have big ol arcanine tails so i'm curious! ("just because i wanted it" is a totally valid reason but i just... like knowing why things...)
also i know naming things is usually left to the creator but i also love taking roots and turning names out of them (favs of late are "brúnkori" which means something like "the bear that is secretly the chosen one" and "matasa," which is iirc something more just like "little girl bear") so i could toss some ideas at you if you'd like, see if anything sticks!

YesssSSSS. Teefs. I am such a big huge-teeth fan it's insane. XD
Colors for a fullsuit would be cubby rust and black, MM fox rust and black (or that fancy luxury fox FursuitSupplies has), some as-of-yet-undecided ivory/light tan color for the belly (maybe bone teddy? it's technically a little too... creamy? for what's in the ref but idk), luxury shag purple and lavender, a pretty brown, and sparkle purple/lavender for the longer bits. I need to darken the ref to better reflect what the luxury shag purple actually is.
As for the tail yeah I just... really wanted a big tail. XD I've never had a character with a hugeass tail even though I really love them. Everyone's had either nub tails or thin ones. So I figured hell I'm already making a hybrid with purple spots why not. Maned wolves have pretty boring tails, and foo tails aren't really a shape I find aesthetically appealing for the most part, so just went with it. I'm trying really hard not to add tail spikes, too. rofl
I'm currently dancing between two name possibilities at the moment (Jack or Calico/Cal) and I'm partially hooked on them because I'll be adding skull markings to the backs of her ears (actually changing the submission file as we speaaak) and a pirate reference would just up the awesome for me by like 10000% percent. X'D I've gone by Calico in the past, but I feel like maybe Jack's too... normal for a furry name? But if you have suggestions feel free to drop 'em at me!

oh nooooo, my weakness! character design!
i don't know if you might have figured this out by now, but i'm a mad fan of functional simplification. so like. this is sort of how i interpreted what you have now? http://i.imgur.com/NXvdhmm.png (ignore the black on the tail; when i colored it in i hadn't decided to do two pictures yet) it's a damn fine looking design. there's only a few things i would change (and, this is just what i would change if someone had dropped this character in my lap and told me it was mine, so you can ofc disregard anything you don't care for): http://i.imgur.com/5GDhwwz.png i'm really into the purple on top of the rust, but i'm not so hot on the lilac in combination, so i made the rosettes dark and put the tum color inside the spots, and added some lilac to the face (the whisker spots, some freckles, and the eye) so it's not out of nowhere. then, ah, because the lilac pile length is going to be much shorter than the sparkle purple, and because i thought you could get some sparkle black to put on the tail so it's all long, there was really no way to incorporate the lilac without it being out of place with the shorter pile length. on the other hand, it works really well as like "root color" for the fringe poof. the black i added to the tail because i interpreted the mane as being a gradient from rust -> dark brown -> black -> purple, so i thought it would be good to keep the same gradient on the tail (plus, as previously mentioned, fur length!)
ahhh ;; sorry, i hope it doesn't come across like i don't like your design because i REALLY DO, i'm just super nitpicky and you opened the floodgates

i googled "pirate related names" and came up with savvy and avast which i really like for furry type characters. so far i'm coming up with a lot of names that could be new genuses, but nothing else that would make a good name unless you just took the "zeer" from zeerover, which is corsair in dutch, haha. if i come up with anything super good i'll def. let you know!

You are a freaking goddess I love it! No lie I really wanted to give her freckles but felt like it might make the face too complicated. But it didn'ttttttt. Okayokayokay where to start. So I originally added the lavender because the first color of purple I picked wasn't distinct enough against the rust (the tones were just way off), but I really really like the purple around the tan hng! I JUST REALLY LIKE THE CRITIQUE YOU HAVE A LOT! I put the lilac into the mane and tail because I swear up and down I found a sparkle lilac but turns out it's just pink, oops. XD Would it be better to leave the lilac out entirely? Love the brown -> black -> purple gradient on the tail. Very good suggestion to keep the design flowing.

tbh i would keep the lilac in! i tried out the darker purple on the face for the freckles and whisker spots and didn't like it as much-- and if you keep 'em in the face you also get to keep 'em in the fringe, which i would recommend BECAUSE
