Okay so someone showed me how to upload these to FA without FA shrinking them, so let's give that a try.

I might do a separate lightning, lighting effects tutorial, but at least this demonstrates the basics of how I do the magic effects in the comic. I realize I didn't go much into gradient and brush modes in this, but this is a good introduction for you to mess around with it on your own.
