Okay, so this idea just popped into my head last night. For some reason, I started thinking about that scene in "Austin Powers: Goldmember" where the guy goes "Look! It's Godzillaaaaaa!" And the other comes in and starts arguing about how it can't be due to international copyright laws. And it got me thinking, He's kind of become a symbol of Japan over here in the West, So this is probably how the poor lizard does for a living when he's not making movies, now that Tokio has super weapons and such to fend off the likes of giant, fire-breathing lizards... And Americans... <<;
There's money to be made in being a giant tourist-trap-slash-welcome-wagon, but at what cost... ?! X3
Gotta imagine standing there all day, smiling to newcomers, and holding up a giant sign that says "Welcome to Japan" on it in Japanese would get boring after awhile too. Especially for someone who's used to battling giant monsters and such. Sigh. I feel for the poor thing. :<
I did not forget to ink anywhere, the landscape (minus the mountain) is supposed to be lineless.
As far as I'm concerned, all clouds in Japan look like that, every Japanese city has a mountain and at least one eerie building with a cool door and round (if any) windows, and all their airplanes look futuristic like rocket ships...
... Or not. But it was fun making something that plays up that little stereotype. X3
I don't speak Japanese by any stretch of the imagination, so you must excuse me if I somehow misspelled "Welcome to Japan". I think I got it right, but I know there are many of rules to the language and writing that I don't understand, so...
(This was originally going to be a four panel comic, by the way. I decided there wasn't too much point in making four whole pages when one could get the point across, so I just melded the third and fourth panels together. )
Anyway, enjoy, everyone.
...Or not. Your choice, I guess.

Now you -know- there's a price to be paid by some of Japan's prospective tourists...unless they feed him well enough, of course. XP Doubt it, though.
I'd think it kind of hilarious if a Statue of Riberty were built in the shape of Godzilla, though. I really would.
This was an awesome idea, nicely condensed into one panel.
