Murphy has apparently been causing trouble by sitting on my mother's computer to look out the window, and unplugging various cords in the process. I've made this cat bench to go over the computer, giving him a more robust place to sit. The bench is constructed from scrap pine lumber, using hardwood dowel for joinery; no screws, nails or glue were harmed in the construction of this bench. Once assembled, I distressed the surface with rocks and hammers, then stained the wood with strong tea. I then gave the bench a good soaking with vinegaroon to react with the tea and ebonize the softwood. One light coarse sanding later, and here's a brand new antique.
