Rockford, Pony Investigator.
Late nights filled with dim light and the heavy fog of acrid smoke swirling in a haze through the room. The tink of ice cubes and the wash of cider filling a glass, another bottle in the trash. Steel being withdrawn from leather and the heavy clunk as it's set upon the stained hardwood desk. Brass and lead clinking in a drawer where the bottle hides. Concentration broken by the shrill of a metal bell ringing through the office.
Times had become complicated, horse-less carriages, larger than life skyscrapers and intrigue passed over Equestria. Friendship drifted apart as ponies vied for resources and the little time they had whittled away with the daylight and the world became cold.
Rockford made a living by uncovering the shadows of the night, bringing ponies back together or to justice. No truth too large, no case too strange.
When the odds are against you, you want to be stuck between a Rockford and a hard place.
I want to write some mystery pony stuff.....

Cherry black stained oak, with chrome inlays along the sides. The top has a work surface, and a raised lip of chrome formed a barrier of sorts. Nestled inside the top right corner was the cutting edge of communication, a rotary phone. On the rear are two small drawers on the tops of either side, with chrome inlays. Two larger ones on the bottoms held files, or cartons of cigarettes and bottles of cider. It tied the office together, and the thick wood could stops bullets if need be.
this actually sounds interesting. an alternate realm hwere the world is darker............. hell th4e Comics for mlp i think are giving the fandom something to work with, an alt dimension mirror gate thingy.
two thigns though. the gun....... too much i think. or at least its design needs to be altered so we can see how a pony could wield it.

No really kinky things, though maybe a story where it leads into a "50 shades of Hay" type deal to figure out the case. LOL.... hay
Also, not an alternative universe, just that Equestria has become industrialized, and all the down sides that come with that. Overcrowding, diluted dreams and desperate struggling for the day to day grind of the fast paced lifestlye it creates.

huh, sounds like Starlight Over Detrot, a fanfic i found a while ago. it has a similar story, sixty years into the future, industrlization, though it is less the entire world has gone to shit, though new danger have arisen, and more in places like Detrot, which is at the very edge of Equestria's reach.
story follows Hard 'Hardy' Boiled, a detrot detective who comes across a msyteriuos murder that snowballs into a major conspiracy, with evil drug lords, hints of being able to defy some factors of time, a whole bunch of strange and creative characters, and doomsday walkie talkies.
feel it is under-appreciated and it is pretty interesting how he views some of the stuff and how it would develop. that and some wacky and strange andcreative characters popping up, from crime lord's who work with knowledge and magic rather than drugs and weapons, magicians with secrets you cannot believe, and ninja bondage zebras............ do not ask me how that fits, but it does somehow.
there is another issue with that gun. keeping it held properly and used ot aim......... let us say Starlight over Detrot has an answer to that though a complicated one.

Also, I was going to do little episodic stuff, like under 100 pages for each vignette...
Ok, time to create something new:
A secret agent cowboy time traveler sushi chef pony who befriends a monkey travels to the far reaches of outer-space and find a broken down ship that went to Hell and brought back life sucking aliens that put an egg into your chest to propagate. They race against time to stop and evil empire from building a moon like space station that clones robots who are actually genetic reconstructions of Earth's old gods who came from the stars to enslave them to build pyrimids and triangular portals that jump between planets so they could take the population and spread them across the galaxy to make human/pony/alien hybrids out of them, and also MAY have taken his sister to complete such research. He quickly realizes that what is really happening is the harkening of the galaxy wide extinction from giant rings that spew out aliens that have done this several times before, and instead of choosing a team of ponies that will survive and repopulate the universe after the harvesting of all life, Kanzu (The pony secret agent cowboy time traveling chef) and Bozo the monkey form an alliance with creatures that lived under their home world and instead unleash a massive army of city eating worms, Giant mech like warriors, dragons and sentient marijuana plants to nuke the mothership of all motherships. Then Elvis arrives and sets the universe strait.
NO ONE HAS WRITTEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT BEFORE!
