Anubis transporting the heart of someone who recently passed away to be weighed against the feather of Maat on the scales.
This was a quick mixed media experiment on bainbridge 80 board. Acrylics watercolor and colored pencil. It was fun to do. The scan took out some fur detail 8(
I`d like to do more, and a cooler version of Anubis. I looked up what he commonly wears in Egyptian art, and came up with this. Though I`d like to do a more polished version of the god sometime in the future. This was kind of a rush job.
This is a gift for my art history teacher, Maureen, whom I will never have as a teacher again. She`s one of the nicest, most caring people I`ve ever met.

Thats what I was going for. He`s not scuptural like the other versions of him on the net. This may "upset" some viewers or get them to rant on how thats not what anubis looks like, but this was for my teacher and not them =)

of course they know full well how a character so fictional like an ancient egyptian god looks like. the egyptians themselves weren't so sure, he looks a bit different on every picture I think. :)
