Zakretians are a spiritual, tribal race, they indeed were able to make connections to a spiritual plane. The reason the spirit Zakretian mentioned that the spirit plane was so empty and lonely is because she would only have been able to be in touch with those she knew while they were still alive, and they weren't in the plane to be seen because they are also trapped like she is ~

She was also explaining that during her time living, most of the other Zakretians were around her age and all the older ones had already been converted soon after giving birth. Very far down the chain of inbreeding it got to a point where a lot of Zakretians died at a very young age and thus, at this stage, the Autozakretians abandoned the inbreeding program and let the last of the Zakretians die out or converted them early. In this spirit Zakretian's case, she was around 13 or 14 years old and probably only had a few months to live before being converted.
